This is an outdoor activity centre located in spectacular surroundings close to Corfe Castle and Poole Harbour. It offers a fantastic range of activities on land and water such as climbing and abseiling on the stunning cliffs at Swanage, getting a serious adrenaline kick from the high ropes course, rafting and kayaking or canoeing across Poole harbour. Burnbake Ropes Course is one of the most thrilling and largest around and would take three days to complete it. The Ropes course is based 2km from the centre and can be reached easily by bike or walking - the journey there can form part of your adventure. Brenscombe has an excellent bouldering wall, three climbing walls and an abseil tower. You can also do rock climbing for real in the old stone quarries of Purbeck ranging from easy crack climbing to strenuous overhangs, your instructor will guided you through all the necessary skills and techniques to safely make it to the top.
The Centre has it’s own restaurant or you can take a picnic and eat in one of the many designated picnic areas. The Centre is approximately 45 mins drive away.
This is a perfect way to spend a couple of hours during a lovely summer day and the kids absolutely love it! I can recommend Harry May as your Captain. Contact him on 07974 753287 and arrange a time to meet and pitch up with a small picnic and a few cold drinks. He will take you out of the harbour and bait up a few lines which you troll behind the boat. Very soon you should start pulling those mackerel in. Everything you catch is yours to take home! The views of Lyme Bay and the Jurassic coast are stunning when viewed from out at sea. Once you return grab a bite to eat at the Harbour Inn pub.
My favourite way of cooking mackerel is to fillet the fish, rub the fish in flour and seasoning then fry in a hot pan and eat with fresh bread and a salad. Absolutely delicious!! (Top tip - try to persuade Harry to let you fillet the fish as you catch them and throw the remains over board, saves the mess at home.)
Lyme Bay RIB Charter offers a choice of coastal tours, adventure packed RIB rides, water skiing, wake boarding and excursions from West Bay, Lyme Regis and Portland Harbour, a great way to enjoy the scenic Jurassic Coastline. You can also charter your own RIB and plan your day to make sure you spend your time on the water in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Whether you go for the half hour blast at speeds of up to 50 mph or the more relaxing lunch/evening stop over where the skipper will drop you ashore for an hour or so, the award winning RIB Charter will ensure you have a memorable experience.

Fishing along the Chesil Beach.
Just a short distance away from the cottages you can see the stunning Chesil Beach, probably one of the most iconic names amongst sea fisherman in the UK. This long stretch of shingle beach running from Portland to Epe in the west attracts thousands of anglers every year. Species of fish include Bass, Mackerel, Red Mullet, Bream, Cod, Plaice and Dogfish. The steep shelving beach off Abbotsbury is perfect for all levels of anglers and the "dragons teeth" (old concrete sea defences) are regarded as a hotspot. West Bexington is famous for large numbers of cod in the winter and spring but can get quite busy. Further along at East Bexington it tends to be quieter. Burton Bradstock (Broadchurch fame!) is the point where the dominant cliffs begin to appear and throws up a good bag of mixed fish. The area behind the Fleet is regarded by many as one of the best places to fish along the beach. Chesil Cove is to the extreme East of Chesil Beach sandwiched between the imperious cliffs of Portland with Portland harbour directly behind. This is a fantastic all year round venue. The area requires a bit of a walk from where you are able to park. With the area being close to the rough ground of Portland the area can throw up something different to the rest of Chesil with good numbers of congers through out the year.
